WELCOME TO OPEN SANCTUARY IN 2019
Some important words from Linda

Welcome to Open Sanctuary in 2019. A year that begins with extreme heat, more fires and significant fish kills in our major rivers. It doesn’t sound like a good welcome to the year however it is a reality we are increasingly confronted by in this age of ecological crisis. OS was founded as a place to foster contemplative practice, community and care for the environment. We recognise the essential need of spiritual practice to enable grounded action for the common good, lived out in a spirit of non-violence. As a species we are at a crossroads and the direction we choose will mean the difference between a somewhat inhabitable planet and one that isn’t. Contemporary prophets suggest the need for humanity to enter a new phase of our evolution. Science and spirituality must engage each other for a wholistic way forward. Evolution, as a process of unfolding consciousness, may be known as conscious Love. An integrative vision of Life is essential. And a big, integrative story of the whole earth community has the potential to unite us beyond our differences. The Universe Story is a cosmology that integrates not only theology but all our modes of knowledge. The wholeness of Reality is realized in the mystic, or Christ moment. At Open Sanctuary we hope to be a place and people who are part of the unfolding consciousness of Love. We recognize the need for spiritual practice and action for the common good to be wed as we remember our sacred relationship with Nature. We invite you to join us.
Since our inauguration Open Sanctuary has met each 2nd and 4th Saturday evenings, and at other periodic times, including Meditation on Mondays at 11am. This year we are gathering on the 2nd Saturday of the month as usual and on the 4th Friday. Fridays will be an extended time, a quiet day, beginning at 10 am. This will give us the opportunity to spend time together in meditation, reflection, gardening or other activity and some conversation. For more on the nature of the Friday gatherings and other events please check the Program page. We hope to see you at OS this year.
If you have a suggestion of a speaker or an activity for one of our regular gatherings, or would yourself like to lead the group one time, please contact Linda or Lyndall or David. See the Contact page for contact details.
